8. International Data Transfers
FAFE is based in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. or other countries where our service providers operate. We implement safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for GDPR compliance to protect your data during transfers. By using the Services, you consent to such transfers where lawful consent applies.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (e.g., encryption, access controls, secure servers) to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure. Assessment data and coaching records are stored securely with restricted access. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.

Notification will include a description of the incident, the data involved, steps we are taking, and actions you can take to protect yourself.
If you suspect a security breach, notify us immediately at [email protected].
10. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Processing
FAFE uses artificial intelligence (AI) in certain aspects of the Services. We are committed to transparency about how AI is used:
- Virtual Coaching Insights: Our Virtual Insights Chat is AI-powered and draws from a database of over 11,900 verified Catholic teaching passages. AI-generated coaching insights are clearly identified as AI-assisted.
- Assessment Analysis: AI may assist in analyzing your assessment responses to provide personalized feedback. All AI-generated analysis is reviewed and validated by trained human coaches before being used in coaching recommendations.
- Content Creation: Some blog articles, social media content, and educational resources are created with AI assistance. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and edited by our human content team to ensure accuracy and alignment with Catholic teaching.
- Before Forever Program: AI is not used in any direct interaction with teen users. All teen-facing content is created and reviewed by human educators and content specialists.
What AI Does Not Do:
- AI does not make decisions about your relationships or life choices.
- AI does not replace human coaching — it supplements and supports our human coaches.
- AI does not diagnose mental health conditions or provide therapy.
- Your individual coaching data is not used to train AI models.
For complete details, see our AI Transparency Policy.
11. Children's Privacy and COPPA Compliance
General Policy
Our general consumer Services (Game of Love young adult platform, coaching, blog, events) are not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
COPPA Compliance Statement
In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at [email protected].
Before Forever Program (Ages 14–19)
The Before Forever program serves high school students ages 14–19 through participating Catholic schools and parishes. Important privacy protections for this program include:
- No PII Collected: FAFE does not collect personally identifiable information directly from teen participants. The Before Forever app edition uses school-managed or parish-managed accounts that do not require students to provide their real names, email addresses, or other PII to FAFE.
- Institutional Enrollment Only: Individual teens cannot create accounts directly with FAFE. All enrollment is managed through participating schools or parishes, which are responsible for obtaining any required parental consent under their own policies.
- No Dating or Matching Features: The Before Forever edition of the Game of Love app contains no dating, matching, or social networking features.
- No Direct Marketing: We do not send marketing communications to teen participants.
- No Behavioral Profiling: We do not create behavioral profiles of teen users or use their data for targeted advertising.
- No Third-Party Data Sharing: We do not share teen interaction data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
- Aggregate Data Only: FAFE may receive aggregate, de-identified participation data from institutions (e.g., number of students enrolled, module completion rates) for program improvement purposes.
For complete details about the Before Forever program, see our Before Forever Program Policy.
12. Coaching Data
If you participate in our coaching programs, the following additional data practices apply:
- My Story Profile Access: Your assigned coach will have access to your My Story profile to provide context for coaching sessions. You control what information you include in your My Story profile.
- Session Notes: Coaches may take notes during sessions to track your progress and goals. These notes are stored securely and are accessible only to your coach and authorized FAFE administrators.
- Coach Transitions: If your coaching relationship ends and you are assigned a new coach, relevant coaching context may be transferred with your consent.
- Confidentiality: Coaching communications are treated as confidential, subject to the exceptions outlined in our Coaching Agreement (e.g., mandatory reporting obligations, safety concerns).
- Separation from Matching: Coaching data, session notes, and My Story profile information are never shared with other users or used in any matching or compatibility features.
13. In-Person Event Data
When you register for or attend FAFE in-person events (workshops, retreats, Sunday Group Dates, or other gatherings), we may collect:
- Registration Information: Name, email address, dietary restrictions (if applicable), and emergency contact information.

14. Institutional and Diocese Data
For schools, parishes, and dioceses that license the Before Forever program:
- Institutional Contact Data: We collect business contact information (name, title, email, phone) for institutional representatives to manage the licensing relationship.
- Aggregate Program Data: We may receive and retain aggregate, de-identified data about program participation (enrollment numbers, module completion rates, pre/post survey results in aggregate form) for program improvement.
- No Student PII: We do not receive, store, or process personally identifiable student data from institutions.
- Data Processing Agreements: Institutions may request a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) that defines the data handling responsibilities between FAFE and the institution. Contact [email protected] to request a DPA.
