Before Forever Program Policy
Last Updated: March 14, 2026
This Before Forever Program Policy ("Policy") governs the Before Forever program operated by FINDING LLC, a Missouri S-Corporation doing business as Finding Adam Finding Eve ("FAFE," "we," "us," or "our"). Before Forever is an 8-module Catholic formation curriculum for high school students ages 14–19, delivered through participating Catholic schools and parishes.
This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Safety Guide.
1. Program Overview
1.1 Purpose
Before Forever: Your Journey to True Love is a Catholic formation curriculum that addresses the relational crisis facing today's young people. It serves as proximate marriage preparation (per Vatican II, Familiaris Consortio §66) and is aligned with the USCCB Doctrinal Elements Framework.
1.2 Audience
The program serves high school students ages 14–19. It is designed for delivery in:
- Catholic high schools (School Track: 16-session semester curriculum, 45–50 minutes each)
- Parish youth ministry programs (Youth Ministry Track: 8 standalone workshops, 60–90 minutes each)
1.3 Content
The 8-module curriculum covers topics including identity, technology and relationships, attraction, gender as gift, becoming the person you were made to be, building real friendships and dating well, foundations for lasting love, and taking the next step. All content is age-appropriate, reviewed by Catholic educators, and aligned with the USCCB Doctrinal Elements Framework.
2. Enrollment and Access
2.1 Institutional Enrollment Only
Before Forever is available only through participating licensed institutions (schools, parishes, and dioceses). The following access restrictions apply:
- No direct teen sign-up: Individual students cannot create accounts directly with FAFE. All enrollment is managed by the participating school or parish.
- No parent/guardian direct accounts: Parents and guardians cannot create teen accounts directly. They may contact the school or parish to enroll their student in the program.
- Institutional responsibility: The participating institution is the primary point of contact for student access, enrollment, and account management.
2.2 Institutional Licensing
Schools, parishes, and dioceses access the Before Forever program through a licensing agreement with FAFE. Licensing includes:
- Curriculum materials (instructor guides, participant notes, presentation slides)
- Access to the Before Forever edition of the Game of Love app
- FAFE Facilitator Training
- Program support and quality assurance
Licensing terms, pricing, and scope are governed by the separate institutional licensing agreement between FAFE and the institution.
2.3 Diocese-Wide Adoption
Dioceses may license Before Forever for multiple schools and/or parishes. Diocese-level licensing includes:
- Centralized facilitator training and certification
- Aggregate reporting (de-identified data only)
- Quality assurance across participating institutions
- Dedicated diocesan program liaison
3. Privacy and Data Protection for Minors
3.1 COPPA Compliance
In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- No PII collected from children under 13: FAFE does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The Before Forever program has a minimum participant age of 14.
- If under-13 data is discovered: If we learn that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected, we will delete that information promptly and notify the institution.
- Parental rights under COPPA: Although COPPA applies to children under 13 and our minimum age is 14, parents may contact us at [email protected] with any concerns about their child's data.
3.2 Enhanced Protections for All Minor Participants (Ages 14–19)
Even though COPPA's requirements technically apply only to children under 13, FAFE voluntarily adopts enhanced privacy protections for all minor participants in the Before Forever program:
- No personally identifiable information (PII) collected by FAFE: We do not collect students' real names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, Social Security numbers, or other PII. The Before Forever app uses school-managed or parish-managed accounts that do not require students to provide PII to FAFE.
- No dating, matching, or social networking features: The Before Forever edition contains no features that connect students with individuals outside their program group.
- No direct marketing to teens: We do not send marketing communications, promotional emails, push notifications, or advertisements to teen participants.
- No behavioral profiling: We do not create individual behavioral profiles, track browsing habits, or use teen interaction data for profiling or targeting purposes.
- No third-party data sharing: We do not share any teen interaction data with third parties for advertising, marketing, analytics, or any other purpose.
- No AI interaction with teens: The Before Forever edition does not include the Virtual Insights Chat or any AI-powered features that interact directly with students. See our AI Transparency Policy.
- No cookies for analytics or marketing: The Before Forever app uses strictly necessary cookies only. No analytics or marketing cookies are used. See our Cookie Policy.
3.3 What Data FAFE May Receive
FAFE may receive the following aggregate, de-identified data from participating institutions for program improvement purposes:
- Number of students enrolled (by institution, not by name)
- Module completion rates (aggregate, not per-student)
- Pre/post survey results (aggregate only, no individual student responses linked to identities)
- Facilitator feedback and program evaluations
3.4 Institutional Data Handling
The participating school or parish is responsible for:
- Managing student accounts within the Before Forever app
- Obtaining any required parental or guardian consent under their own policies and applicable law
- Complying with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and any applicable state student privacy laws
- Maintaining any student records associated with program participation
FAFE does not act as a "school official" under FERPA and does not receive education records.
3.5 Data Processing Agreements
Institutions may request a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) that formalizes the data handling responsibilities between FAFE and the institution. To request a DPA, contact [email protected].
4. Safeguarding and Child Protection
4.1 Diocese Safe Environment Training
All individuals who facilitate Before Forever sessions with minors must complete their diocese's approved safe environment training program before leading or assisting with any session. Accepted programs include but are not limited to:
- Virtus Protecting God's Children (the most widely adopted program in U.S. Catholic dioceses)
- Other diocesan-approved safe environment programs that meet or exceed the requirements of the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People
Proof of completion must be provided to FAFE or the licensing institution before the facilitator is authorized to lead sessions. FAFE reserves the right to verify compliance.
4.2 Criminal Background Checks
All facilitators, co-facilitators, and adults who will be present at Before Forever sessions with minors must pass a criminal background check through:
- FAFE's designated background check provider, or
- The diocese's approved background check provider
Background check results must be on file before any interaction with students. Background checks must be renewed per diocesan policy (typically every 3–5 years).
4.3 FAFE Facilitator Training
All Before Forever facilitators must complete the FAFE Facilitator Training Program (minimum 4 hours) before leading sessions. Training covers:
- Program content and facilitation methodology
- Age-appropriate facilitation techniques
- Handling sensitive topics with pastoral care
- Recognizing and responding to signs of distress or disclosure
- Mandatory reporting obligations
- Safeguarding best practices
4.4 Additional Facilitator Requirements
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with a recommendation from their pastor
- Completed the workshop series themselves (facilitators must experience the material before leading it)
- Annual renewal: Facilitators must maintain current status on background checks and safe environment training
4.5 Two-Deep Leadership
At least two trained, background-checked adults must be present at all Before Forever sessions, events, and activities involving minors. This includes:
- In-person classroom sessions
- Youth ministry workshop sessions
- Any off-site activities or retreats
- Virtual sessions (two adults must be visible/present on screen)
A single adult may never be alone with a minor participant in the context of the Before Forever program.
4.6 Mandatory Reporting
All FAFE facilitators acknowledge and comply with mandatory reporting obligations under applicable state law. Specifically:
- If a facilitator becomes aware of suspected abuse or neglect of a minor, they are required to report it to the appropriate state authorities (e.g., child protective services, law enforcement) as required by the state in which the session takes place.
- Facilitators must also report concerns to the school or parish administration and to FAFE.
- FAFE will cooperate fully with any investigation by state authorities, law enforcement, or diocesan officials.
- Failure to report suspected abuse or neglect is grounds for immediate removal from the facilitator role and may result in criminal liability under state law.
4.7 Code of Conduct for Facilitators
All Before Forever facilitators agree to:
- Maintain appropriate physical and emotional boundaries with all minor participants
- Never be alone with a minor participant (two-deep leadership at all times)
- Treat all participants with dignity, respect, and pastoral care
- Avoid favoritism or exclusive relationships with individual students
- Never communicate with individual student participants through personal channels (text, social media, personal email) — all communication goes through institutional channels
- Refrain from providing individual counseling or spiritual direction to minors (refer to appropriate school or parish resources)
- Report any boundary violations, safety concerns, or signs of abuse immediately
5. Content Standards
5.1 Age-Appropriate Content
All Before Forever curriculum content is:
- Designed for high school students ages 14–19
- Reviewed by Catholic educators and formation specialists
- Aligned with the USCCB Doctrinal Elements Framework (Elective D.III.D.2)
- Grounded in Catholic anthropology, Theology of the Body, and Sacred Scripture
- Presented in language and examples appropriate for teen audiences
- Free from graphic, explicit, or age-inappropriate material
5.2 Content Usage Restrictions
Before Forever curriculum materials are proprietary to FAFE and provided under license. Institutions may not:
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works from the curriculum without prior written consent from FAFE
- Redistribute curriculum materials to non-licensed institutions or individuals
- Use curriculum materials outside the scope of the licensing agreement
- Record facilitator scripts or session content for redistribution
- Present the curriculum as their own original work
5.3 Supplementary Materials
Institutions may supplement the Before Forever curriculum with their own materials (e.g., parish-specific prayers, local resources), provided that:
- Supplementary materials are clearly identified as separate from the FAFE curriculum
- Supplementary materials are consistent with Catholic teaching
- Supplementary materials do not contradict or undermine the curriculum content
6. Parent and Guardian Rights
6.1 Curriculum Access
Parents and guardians may request an overview of the Before Forever curriculum content from the participating school or parish. FAFE provides institutions with parent-facing program summaries for this purpose.
6.2 Withdrawal
Parents and guardians may withdraw their student from the Before Forever program at any time by contacting the school or parish. FAFE will honor all institutional withdrawal decisions.
6.3 No PII to Review or Delete
Because FAFE does not collect PII from teen participants, there is no individual student data held by FAFE for parents to review, correct, or request deletion of. Any student data associated with program participation is held by the school or parish under their own data policies.
6.4 Feedback and Concerns
Parents with questions or concerns about the Before Forever program may:
- Contact the school or parish program administrator
- Contact FAFE at [email protected]
- Request a meeting with facilitators through the school or parish
7. Photography and Media
7.1 Default: No Photography of Minors
The default policy for Before Forever sessions and events is no photography, video recording, or audio recording of minor participants.
7.2 Exceptions with Written Consent
If the school, parish, or FAFE wishes to photograph or record Before Forever sessions or events for promotional, educational, or ministry purposes:
- Written parental or guardian consent must be obtained for each individual minor prior to any photography or recording
- Consent forms must specifically describe how the images/recordings will be used
- Parents may decline consent without penalty to the student's participation
- Students who do not have parental consent on file must not appear in photographs or recordings
7.3 Student-Created Content
Students should not be asked or encouraged to create content (posts, photos, videos) that includes their personal information or identifying details in connection with the Before Forever program.
8. In-Person Event Safety for Minors
When Before Forever sessions include in-person events, retreats, or off-site activities:
- All safeguarding requirements in Section 4 apply
- Written parental or guardian consent for participation is required
- Emergency contact information must be collected by the institution (not FAFE)
- A first aid kit and basic emergency procedures must be available at the venue
- Parents or guardians must designate authorized persons for pick-up, if applicable
- The institution must have an emergency action plan on file
See our Safety Guide Section 8 for additional in-person event safety guidelines.
9. Program Quality and Accountability
9.1 Quality Assurance
FAFE monitors program quality through:
- Aggregate outcome data (pre/post surveys, module completion rates)
- Facilitator feedback and evaluations
- Periodic program reviews with licensing institutions
- Alignment checks against USCCB Framework requirements
9.2 Reporting Concerns
If a student, parent, facilitator, or institution has concerns about the Before Forever program, they may:
- Contact the school or parish program administrator
- Email FAFE at [email protected]
- For safeguarding concerns: Contact the diocese's Office of Child and Youth Protection
FAFE takes all concerns seriously and will investigate and respond promptly.
